Kurt Braget has built a very simple but already quite interesting platform on Lynx called “Chirp”. It’s similar to “Twetch” on BSV, and potentially in some ways to Voice (but we will have to see about that).
The key concept is that posting costs a small amount (as a spam filter), and that likes also cost a small amount.
Right now everything goes into one channel — so it’s relatively useless. BUT…
Imagine the idea of you being able to create and “bookmark” any channel — in the same way telegram has groups on the left and content on the right.
This is a killer concept — it allows you to switch context super easily. Something you can’t easily do in Facebook or Twitter.
Facebook has great groups, but its very hard to switch between them. Take a look at this nightmare UX.
Twitter also has #tags, but no way again to subscribe to these #tags, and bookmark them in the same sense as telegram.
It’s all just ONE PERSONALIZED FEED
One company that does a good job is spectrum, which was acquired by GitHub. Again, you have the channel selector on the left, content on the right (with an intermediate group column in the middle, which is not great).
But now imagine being able to custom set a list of tags — in my case: EOS, Lynx, Bitcoin, BitcoinSV, Eth, Cosmos, Trump, Iran, Bach subjects that I am following actively.
I then go in and post to each subject. The small micropayment ensures against spam.
If people like my post, i get paid, and content trickles up into the “trending” posts.
So now you have the best of all worlds.
- No censorship a la Twitter — because its moderated by the community, and not by a central company.
- Ability to chirp about absolutely any subject you want.
- Ability to define and follow your own topics.
- Micro-payments built into the model with LynxChain
- You also have verified profiles ect.. +avatars on chain from Lynx.
- And compared to telegram you have threading, and hashtags instead of groups which can be public / private etc. and have inviting.
