In a surprising announcement by Block.one it’s been revealed that the EOS New York members will be joining the high performance blockchain solutions company. In their new roles as employees, EOS NY founders Rick Schlesinger and Kevin Rose will be senior leaders in new initiatives at Block.one. According to Block.one: Rick and Kevin, along with their EOS NY team, will “help the company deepen its engagement with public blockchain communities, promote ideas to foster open, organized, and decentralized public network operation, and represent its interests as a token holder of several public digital assets.”
EOS New York was an EOS Block Producer, but more than that they are a group of independent individuals with a passion for educating and conversing with users of the community. Their promotion and advancements of the EOS(io) technology helped to bring adoption of the project we love. And it is exactly these valuable contributions that made them the target of the prominent Block.one.
The entity known as EOS New York will cease all it’s operations, including it’s role as a Block Producer. Also its website now re-directs to Block.one’s website, and the same goes for links on its social media pages. Their social profiles now reflect this move with the words “Please note that we are transitioning to new roles and all block production operations have ceased.” It is still unclear how this affect some of the projects they were involved in, although it’s most likely they had knowledge of the events well ahead of the rest of us.
EOS New York, or rather its members, may have moved away from direct dealings with the EOS community but they’re still located in the same neighborhood. As far as neighborhoods go, Block.one is only a block away. We hope their success story continues to bear fruit for the entire blockchain ecosystem during their time at Block.one. And look forward to hearing more about their new endeavors.
Over the years, Rick, Kevin, and their team have shown tremendous dedication, professionalism, and globally-inclusive collaboration, and we are excited for them to join our team.Brendan Blumer (Block.one CEO)
We had the pleasure of hosting Kevin Rose, co-founder of EOS New York, on our podcast early last year. It’s a great interview to listen to for some personal insight into their story leading up to this point. Podcast #3 – Kevin Rose – EOS New York
