Top 21 Block Producer, EOSLaoMao, has announced a BP Kicking Proposal Monitor. Using Aloha EOS’ Block Producer Reliability Tracker to monitor reliability metrics, the tool will be able to quickly notify Block Producers when a BP has missed a certain amount of blocks. It is especially useful in helping maintain efficiency in the EOS network.
Features and highlights:
- Docker based, simple to deploy.
- Auto propose a proposal for your Block Producer account, which approves BP kicking proposal(missing >=3 rounds in a row) proposed by Block Producer Reliability Tracker.
- Slack Bot Notification! Yay!
- No keys or permissions related to your BP account is needed to use this tool.
Once the tool detects a Block Producer who’s missed 3 or more blocks in a row, it then automatically creates a proposal to kick that BP out, alerting the other Top 21 BPs to either approve or disapprove the proposal. It is worth noting that sometimes a Block Producer may miss a few blocks due to unforeseen circumstances.
This tool requires that Block Producers have a multisig account. Multisignature accounts utilize multiple keys for a more secure account, thus a BP that utilizes a multisig account helps keep the network secure. As of May 8, only seven of the top 40 BPs were utilizing multisig accounts where both ‘owner’ and ‘active’ keys are multisig-ed.
